Abstract

This research analyzes the phenomena of code-switching and code-mixing in the YouTube channel "Podhub" hosted by Deddy Corbuzier. The study's purpose is to identify and classify the types of both code-switching and code-mixing present in the conversation. Using a qualitative descriptive method, the data was collected from the "warlok vs bule" episode of "Podhub," which was published on October 26, 2024. This episode was chosen because it features a mixed couple from Indonesia and England, providing a rich source of bilingual and multilingual language phenomena. The analysis was conducted using theories from Muysken (for code-mixing) and Holmes (for code-switching). The findings revealed that the conversations contained three types of code-switching: intra-sentential, inter-sentential, and tag switching. The analysis also identified three types of code-mixing: insertion, alternation, and congruent lexicalization. The study concludes that these phenomena are influenced by social factors like social identity, prestige, and audience engagement, reflecting the impact of digital media on language change.
